69th Infantry Division (Germany)
The 69th Infantry Division () was a combat division (military), division of the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War. History Initially formed as a "second wave" division in August 1939 from the Münster-based German 16th Artillery Command, 16th Artillery Command, the unit spent the first months of the war in the Eifel region of northwest Germany. In April 1940, the division participated in the Operation Weserübung, German invasion of Norway. A small party of soldiers from the unit landed Capture of Egersund, at Egersund where they seized the telecommunications cable linking Norway with mainland Europe, encountering no significant opposition. A further 900 soldiers from the division were put ashore near Bergen where they captured the defensive fortifications (which had fired on the approaching German ships) as well as the city after engaging Norwegian forces in combat. 69th Division (Imperial Japanese Army)
The was an infantry division of the Imperial Japanese Army. Its call sign was the . It was formed on 2 February 1942 in Linfen city as a class C (security) division, simultaneously with the 68th and 70th divisions. The backbone of security division has consisted of the eight independent infantry battalions, and it does not have an artillery regiment. The nucleus for the formation was the 16th Independent mixed brigade and a reservists from the former 108th division, recruited from Hirosaki mobilization district. Action The division was assigned to the 1st army upon formation, with the task of providing a garrison to the central and west parts of the Shanxi province. In autumn 1943, it fought in Lanshan County as a part of the Battle of Changde. 69th (2nd East Anglian) Division
The 2nd East Anglian Division was a 2nd Line Territorial Force division of the British Army in World War I. The division was formed as a duplicate of the 54th (East Anglian) Division in November 1914. As the name suggests, the division recruited in East Anglia, particularly Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk, but also Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and Northamptonshire. In August 1915, in common with all Territorial Force divisions, it was numbered as 69th (2nd East Anglian) Division. By January 1918 it had been extensively reorganized and lost its territorial identity; henceforth it was known as 69th Division. It served on home defence duties throughout the war, whilst recruiting, training and supplying drafts to overseas units and formations.
